When you were a kid did you ever imagine that carrots were the toes of some crazy massive orange like monster that lived in gardens? I ate a lot of paint chips...
This winter Julie and I paid a bunch of money to some hippies who had a deal with a farm out on Long Island (oddly enough super close to where my grandmother lives.) But this weekend was the first pick up for the farm produce and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I got a healthy (read: massive) head of romaine, a head of red leaf lettuce, a bag of arugula, a bag of mesclun, some garlic scapes, a bundle of small asparagus and two gorgeous leeks. I also picked up from the farmers market a bunch of baby carrots, a bunch of radishes, a small basket of red cipollini onions and some fresh caught day boat scallops.
Tonights dinner? A salad of fresh greens, carrots and radishes with some pan-seared scallops. I can't seriously think of anything that will taste better.

I'm no chef. I'm barely a cook. And certainly not in the professional sense. I work in mobile for a living, but I enjoy cooking almost as much as I love
