I can only hope that when our civilization is uncovered in a million years there are still hot dogs to eat

Seriously. That pasta? Up there? Totally made out of hot dogs. I'm not joking. It's 100% pure kosher franks. Also, I'm the fucking tooth fairy.

Sadly this post is not about hot dogs. No wieners. No foot longs. No red hots. Nary a Weißwurst in sight. My kitchen is so casing-free it'd being even the most tenacious Teuton to tears. I mean, for Christ, there's not even any meat in that picture. I will even make the claim that not one. single. animal. died for our dinner that night.

What can I say, I'm playing the role of the concerned guy.

Not to break you free from phallic fantasies featuring frankfurters, (man I am on an alliteration tear tonight) but lets talk about what you're seeing up there. No, not the YouTube video you've got playing in the other window, the fucking food.

How does a little fusilli bucatini sound to you? Maybe with a little peas, pesto and asparagus? Heck, maybe you'd like to throw in some mushrooms. I know I did. So yeah, that's pretty much what you're seeing there. Asparagus, peas, leeks and mushrooms cooked down in some olive oil, a bit of homemade arugula pesto, pasta cooking water and pasta thrown in. A few dollops of fresh ricotta cheese (for sooth! not homemade!) and like, fuck you, it's dinner.

The pesto was pretty easy to make. I took two small cloves of garlic, a nice hunk of Parmesan cheese (maybe 4 ounces), some salt, pepper and a small handful of toasted pine nuts for a spin in the food processor. Added a whole shit ton (yes, shit ton. it's about four cubic ass loads) of well-washed arugula (four cups? five cups?) and then drizzled in olive oil until it "looked right". And by looked right I mean not a grease slick like 90% of all pesto you see on the market, but vibrant verdant green.

I also made some dessert, but that's another post. I know, I made this last week but am just posting about it now — I've got a decent back-log to catch-up on. So stay tuned.
