January 15 » A Simple Meal For a Late Night
Apparently I have to get back into the habit of posting about dinner right after eating dinner or I don't actually get it done. I've got a back log now of food to write about, so don't worry, I hope to have a bunch of stuff up over the next 24 hours. (I've got to unload a few photos off my camera as well.) One of the few things that I wish I could change when I cook is the amount of time it takes to ...
November 18 » T-Minus Four Days
We're off to a fantastic start so far. Two cuts (left hand thumb and index finger they did a fantastic job sharpening my knives, by the way) and a burn, three inches down my left forearm (it's an oven thing.) I can't wait to see what the final tally is. And I also can't wait until I can start touch typing again. It's very difficult to use your middle finger to hit the keys your index finger is supposed to be hitting in addition to the keys its supposed to ...
November 03 » But I Don't Do Windows
Julie was very lucky this morning because the homemade brunch fairy decided to visit me. Yes, I feel like I can say she was lucky because I cooked for her. No, I'm not egotistical. Well. Okay. Maybe just a little. I couldn't help but to cook breakfast though. (Thank you potato spinach gratin!) And, what, with leftover roasted pumpkin I can make a simple potato-pumpkin hash. And a ...
October 19 » If it Involves Bacon and Frying, it's Gotta be Good
Today was a pretty weird day. Didn't get a lot of sleep last night and had to wake up early to take my cat to the vet in order to get stitches on her eye (well, where her eye used to be, long story) removed. Julie had a work happy hour that I stopped off at and realized I wasn't in a social mood so I went home and ordered tacos for myself. When Julie came home a while later she needed something to eat. Not really having any food on hand since I'm leaving for San Francisco on ...
October 16 » Leftovers Spaghetti
Tonight was one of my favorite things to cook: leftovers spaghetti. We had cauliflower, tomato sauce, chicken sausages and swiss chard still in the fridge from the night before. A quick stop at the supermarket on the way home got us some fennel, another onion, some artichoke hearts and a box of mezze-rigatone. I'm no chef. I'm barely a cook. And certainly not in the professional sense. I work in mobile for a living, but I enjoy cooking almost as much as I love
