April 03 » Einsturzende Neuessen
You think you know what a money shot is? Unless you've seen this, you're totally wrong. I really wanted to make chicken pot pie this week. I really really did. I even put it on the menu, bought frozen peas and pearl onions. I took chicken out of the freezer to defrost. Like I really wanted to. But then I had the week from hell at work and have been retarded exhausted every night when I got home. So I haven't cooked this week ...
March 06 » That Chicken Is Totally Bricked
As much as people like to hate on chicken because it's "bland" and "tasteless" I still think chicken is pretty good. (Now, boneless, skinless breasts? They have no flavor unless you're cooking them in something, but that's another blog post.) Especially a nice roasted chicken. But sometimes I don't have the time to roast a whole chicken. That's where the brick comes in. This recipe is probably printed everywhere, but for reference I went with the one from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything (which ...
December 02 » Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
I woke up this morning to a backyard covered in snow, however light it may have been, it was snow nonetheless. I'm not going to lie to you I felt like a little kid at Christmas. Walking around Carroll Gardens this AM after brunch at Miriam didn't bother me one bit. Yes, it was blustery. Yes it was cold. But! It was snowing! Snowing! Southerners just don't understand. Maybe just a little. I couldn't help but to cook breakfast though. I rarely have eggs, potatoes, cheese, milk, bread, onions, garlic and butter in the same place at the same time in the morning, much less potatoes that were peeled and sliced. (Thank you potato spinach gratin!) And, what, with leftover roasted pumpkin I can make a simple potato-pumpkin hash. And a ...
November 02 » 365 Days is a Long Time
First off, let me apologize for the lack of photos of the meal tonight. I didn't want to take photos because I didn't want to share with anyone; tonight was my anniversary with Julie so I made her a super nice meal. You will get to see the pie and the cat try to eat the chicken though. So for tonight I wanted to try to make something above and beyond my normal meals and I'm not just talking about making a dessert (although I did!). Being that the cold ...

I'm no chef. I'm barely a cook. And certainly not in the professional sense. I work in mobile for a living, but I enjoy cooking almost as much as I love
